A twin is only worth
what it can prove.

Most digital twins in this market are a point cloud with a login. DigitalGhana™ is built the other way round: control first, a signed baseline, dated epochs, a stated level of detection, and a replay that shows you exactly where the record stops. If the twin cannot separate movement from measurement noise, it says so.

Control before capture

Monuments founded outside the zone of movement, described, witnessed and observed onto the Ghana National Grid through the Survey and Mapping Division framework — with one published transformation between that grid and the satellite frame every instrument delivers.

Baseline epoch

The agreed zero state: extent, method, accuracy and coverage fixed in writing and signed off by the asset owner. Every later claim about change is a claim against this file.

Semantic binding

Objects get identities. Register numbers, systems, spaces, documents and condition records attach to geometry, so the twin can be asked a question instead of merely looked at.

Repeat epochs

Capture on the cadence the asset's rate of change demands, not the cadence the budget cycle prefers, with an independent accuracy check on withheld points every time.

Change replay

Difference epoch against epoch at the 95% level of detection, publish what exceeded it, and leave the unobserved gaps visible rather than smoothing them into an animation.

Inspection and action

Remote inspection raises tasks against objects, tasks return evidence, and the evidence lands back on the twin. A twin that cannot raise work is a viewer.

War Office 1926

The Ghana National Grid is a Transverse Mercator projection on the War Office 1926 ellipsoid. Every Lands Commission plan, every cadastral record and every statutory boundary in the country is drawn on it.

WGS84 / ITRF

Every GNSS receiver, drone, mobile mapper and satellite product delivers in a global frame. Nothing in the field speaks the national grid natively, and nothing warns you when it silently does not.

The difference

Without one published, tested transformation applied by every contributor, the two frames disagree by hundreds of metres. Difference the epochs anyway and the twin reports change that is purely arithmetic — which is why this desk treats registration as a measured quantity, not a checkbox.

01 / The facility

What is being twinned, where, and to what standard of proof

Water treatment works, reservoir or pumping station (GWCL, CWSA): Process plant, tank condition and buried connections. Interior capture is the hard part and is usually where the register is weakest.

Operate and inspect a live facility remotely: The twin replaces routine walk-rounds. It must be current, navigable and linked to the asset register, or the inspector goes back to the van.

GNSS RTK from a local base set up each visit: A new base position each visit shifts the whole dataset. Repeat surveys drift against each other by more than most of the change being looked for.

Registration uncertainty here: about ±97.2 mm between epochs, before any capture error. This figure carries into every change you claim, which is why the control framework — not the scanner — usually decides what a twin can prove.

Priority 01

Capture a baseline epoch before anything else

A twin with no observation cannot be inspected, compared or defended. Establish the control, capture the agreed extent and have the baseline signed off by the asset owner as the zero state.

Priority 02

Capture the interior — no epoch covers it

Interior fabric, plant rooms, ceiling voids and services carry no observation. Handheld SLAM scanning captures occupied interiors quickly and can be constrained to static scans at door thresholds to control drift; 360° imagery on the same route gives the visual layer.

Priority 03

Bind asset register identifiers to the twin objects

Until every twin object carries the identifier the maintenance system uses, the twin cannot raise work, carry a history or reconcile with the fixed asset register. This is the single change that moves a twin from viewer to operating system.

Priority 04

Archive every epoch immutably so past states can be replayed

Replay depends on the previous state still existing exactly as delivered. Overwriting a dataset with its update destroys the ability to demonstrate when something changed — the evidence that makes a twin worth more than a survey.

Priority 05

Document the personal-data treatment for imagery

Street-level and interior capture records people, vehicles and private premises. Register the processing, define retention, and blur or withhold what does not need to be published under the Data Protection Act 843 (2012).

Priority 06

Train named client users to operate the twin unaided

Measure, section, compare epochs, export an inspection record and raise a task. A twin nobody on the client side can drive is consumed through the consultant, which is the failure mode that ends most twin programmes at renewal.
